DECLARATION OF INTENTION TO CONTEST FOR THE POSITION OF PRESIDENT; NIGERIAN ASSOCIATION OF AGRICULTURAL STUDENTS (NAAS), OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY CHAPTER, ILE-IFE.

With utmost humility and deep thought of sincerity, I give regards to all the leadership of the faculty, the stakeholders and the generality of all NAASites, who had, in one way or the other contributed immensely to the growth and development of our dear association. As I believed that their impacts would forever remain indelible and shall never fade, as it has been written on the sands of time.

Greatest NAASites! Articulate NAASites!!
Having fair knowledge of, and met all conditions provided for the eligibility in ARTICLE VI, SECTION 23, SUB-SECTION 2 (Item a, b & f) of our sacrosanct constitution, and not to have been found guilty with the provision of (Item g) under the same SUB-SECTION, I, Com. Hammed Omoyele, popularly, socially and politically Baptized as OMOH, a student of Soil Science and Land Resources Management Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, after thorough and analytical appraisal of my strengths and weaknesses in respect to the above provisions, I wish to declare my intention to serve as the next *NAAS President for the 2019/20 parliamentary session.

Why OMOH?

OMOH has for long been driven with “The Audacity of Hope,” in a bid to work unanimously under the coinage of TEAM_FORMIDABLE, and my mission and prowess to join the league of legends in this faculty have always inspired me to show up to service anytime, whenever the call is made.

Believe me sincerely, when duty calls, experience counts. However, this’s been the motive why some members have selected me in visualization of my unleashed heart desire to contest for the next NAAS president because they believe I embody the best this association has to offer. I in person, understand the idea of association, faith, courage and commitment, because they have all defined my life, and I believe my values and records affirm what is best in us. 

I am the type of comrade who will not, even with just a unit of consideration, sacrifices the general aspirations of good students of this association on the altar of self-interest or personal aggrandizement. In fact, every adroit member of this great association can attest to the fact that my name has become synonymous to humility, loyalty, courage, magnanimity, hard work, result oriented and unquestionable devotion to duty. Without an iota of doubt, me aspiring for this post of president is the compliment of my capacity, as I have been to several fields of struggle some years ago, and still serving purposely for the  betterment and sustainability of humanity.

I, therefore by this declaration, humbly solicit your massive support both spiritually, physically, in cash and in kind to actualize my dream of becoming the next NAAS president. 

OMOH is that comrade we’ve all been wanting and waiting for.

OMOH is that comrade with The Audacity of Hope.

OMOH is just the right comrade for the task ahead.

A Vote for OMOH is a vote for Formidable.

Vote OMOH as the president of NAAS 2020.

Together we claim this victory. All towards a more resourceful Agriculture.

    APPRECIATION MESSAGE

    My first appreciation goes to Almighty God, the drive behind the wheel of “The Audacity of Hope” which gives me the courage and confidence to stand hopeful as at the time of exponential rate of uncertainty on the victory of this election. Special appreciation goes to my parents, Mr & Mrs Omoyele who shared not only an improbable love, but also an abiding faith in the possibilities of success of this election.

    My second appreciation goes to the generality of the undergraduate students in the Faculty of Agriculture, OAU; seniors and colleague from the department of Agricultural Economics, Animal Sciences, Agricultural Extension and Rural Development, Crop Production and Protection, Family Nutrition and Consumer Science, and Soil Science and Land Resources Management Department, you’ve all saddled yourselves with the responsibility to creat time out of this hour of busy examination period to come and cast your vote for the right candidates. This paragraph won’t complete without appreciating all the post graduate students, the lecturers, non-academic staff, the Dean of the faculty for the advice and support given (in cash and in kind) to record this election a victory.

    My sincere appreciation goes to all organizations and associations that made it coming for the success of this election. I deeply appreciate the presence of the CEO of OneForAll initiatives, in the person of Advocate Babawale J Popoola PKA BABBYJAY—A presidential aspirant at NAOSS National Headquarters, Hon. Kabir Asiwaju—The founder, Center for Peace Advocacy, Ambassador Sodic Alase—The convener of Irorunde Youth Initiatives, members from National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS) National Headquarters, distinguished FESAites, Hon. Choize representing Ilobu National Students’ Union (INSU), historyarena blogspot, representatives from Formidable Youth for Progress and Development, members from Tax Advocates for Nigeria, members from Youth Advocates for Peace, friends from other faculties and departments especially faculty of Law (Cash TV), Technology, Administration, Science, Art and College of Health Sciences. Thank you very much for the love you’ve shown and established. Nothing, but love! And deep down in my heart, I’m grateful.

    I also extend my appreciation to students from other institutions in Nigeria; Students from university of Abuja, university of Ibadan, National Open University, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ire Polytechnic, great Ladokites, Adeyemi College of Education, Crestfield College of Education and many others. We’ve actually fought a progressive and formidable fight. Aluta Continua, Vitoria Asata!

    Let me conclude by saying a big “thank you” to everyone that contributes to the success of this election, together we work for more progressive NAAS. And the entire members of #Team_Formidable OAU axis also say, “Thank you and God bless you.”
    We HOPE to SERVE the entire students of this great university (OAU) in future.

How Oba Samuel Adeniran Asusumasa Atewogboye II was sentenced to death for killing a baby for ritual in 1944 On a Monday morning that started out like every other day, the 10th of January, 1949, something unbelievably nasty was to occur. An event so brutal it shook the helpless community to its very core. In the rustic compound of Mr. Ojo was a 15-month-old baby girl whom he and his adorable wife joyfully named Adediwura (meaning royalty or crown has turned to gold). Not bothered with any problem in the world, she was busy playing. Unknown to the family, the crown of the Efon-Alaaye was soon going to turn their own crown into a calabash of blood. All of a sudden, someone noticed the little girl playing within the compound was nowhere to be found. It was as if she just vanished. Ha! What type of a bad joke is this, the father must have mused. But it was no joke. After checking every plank and crevice in the compound, the parents knew something terrible was amiss....

GBENGA ADEBOYE, the Pioneer Founder of comedy - M.O AKANDE

EARLY LIFE As a child, Gbenga was precocious often chastised ‘forwardness’. Adeboye was one of those children who didn’t realize when their mothers gave them the ‘eye’ to shut them up in the presence of guests. Young Gbenga let it rip without filter: he said any and everything his eyes saw. By the time he was a secondary school student at Oranmiyan Memorial Grammar School Ile-Ife, he had gained a reputation for being the school clown: the one who could bail himself out of trouble (that he mostly put in himself into!) by telling jokes. But this was in the 70’s: nobody ever made a living by forming and telling faabu. Soon he was sent off to the big city of Lagos to find a proper means of livelihood. He got a job with the Nigerian Airports Authority as commercial attache. His job was picking up foreigners at the airport, holding placards and announcing their names from a small notepad.
