FUNKE AKINDELE, A LIVING EXAMPLE OF CHASING YOUR PASSION. - M.O Akande
EARLY LIFE AND EDUCATION
Akindele was born on August 24, 1977, in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria. Funke is the second of three children (two girls and one boy). Akindele's mother is a Medical Doctor while her father is a retired School Principal.
Acting has always been her calling, but she almost became a lawyer. Funke’s father convinced her to study law after high school. She obtained her law degree from the University of Lagos. While she is not a practising lawyer, Funke said in an interview that she might practise later on in life. She can also fall back on her Ordinary National Diploma in Mass Communications at MOSHOOD ABIOLA POLYTECHNIC, OGUN STATE.
FUNKE'S LIFESTYLE
Funke Akindele’s wedding was one of Nigeria’s biggest news stories of 2016. The actress married Nigerian rapper Abdul Rasheed ‘JJC Skillz’ Bello in a private ceremony in London. Only close family and friends were in attendance. The wedding came as a surprise to Funke’s fans as many only found out about the day via social media.
Funke and JJC Skillz celebrated their third wedding anniversary in August 2019. Funke took to Instagram to share a sweet video of some of their favourite moments together. JJC Skillz also shared the clip.
Funke Akindele has been plagued by pregnancy rumours for years. According to Google, "Funke Akindele pregnancy" was one of the most searched phrases in Nigeria in August 2017. While Funke did not confirm reports of a pregnancy, her baby bump was visible when she took to the stage at the Glo Network lafta fiesta.
Sadly, several local reports would later claim that she suffered a miscarriage six months into her pregnancy.
While some of Funke’s fans believe she has a daughter, the actress only has two children – the twins she welcomed in 2018.
One year after her miscarriage, Funke and JJC Skillz welcomed twin boys into the world. Funke gave birth to the boys in Los Angeles, USA, in December 2018. According to reports, the twins were allegedly born through a surrogate. Funke reportedly opted for surrogacy after her 2017 miscarriage and other failed attempts to fall pregnant via costly IVF treatments. Funke is notoriously private about her personal life and has not shared many details about the birth of her children. "Some new reports say actress Funke Akindeleactually her twins via surrogacy. ... However, barely two months after the twins arrived, fresh facts have emerged on the true story behind the pregnancy and eventual birth of the twins. According to insiders, Akindele-Bello disclosed that her twins were born through surrogate."
Aside from her twin boys, Funke is also a stepmother. Her husband JJC Skillz has three children from previous relationships. Tamira, Benito and Josiah have a close relationship with Funke and the blended family often celebrate important milestones and events together.
